I want to start Preserve Gimme 5 at my school/community center/store.
We are glad to hear that you are excited about recycling #5s!
We know of a few schools and other locations that are doing exactly what you're describing. Unfortunately, we don't have extra recycling bins to send you, but you can definitely get creative! Click here to print out signs that you can attach to homemade bins (you might use large cardboard boxes or reuse an old trash can, for example).
Your best bet is to visit your local Whole Foods and ask them if you can drop your collected #5s at their store, so they can add them to their own Gimme 5 collections. You also can send all of your #5s directly to our collection facility at Preserve Gimme 5.
Are Preserve plastics Safe?
We believe strongly in making our products as safe and healthy as possible for you and your family. All of our plastics are tested for heavy metals and exceed the Environmental Protection Agency drinking water standards. If we don’t feel comfortable giving a product to our families, we won’t sell it to yours. Click here to find out more about Preserve plastic safety.
Do your products contain BPA?
Preserve products are made with recycled polypropylene (#5) plastic, which does not require BPA to achieve its necessary material properties. BPA is typically found in #3 and some #7 plastics. Additionally, Preserve products have been tested for leaching by independent labs. These tests have consistently shown that our plastic meets leaching requirements more rigorous than the standards set for tap water. These tests have also shown that Preserve products are BPA free.
